I think this everytime I turn off my computer

My laptop "sleeps" more than I do!

Does this not suck, or what?

Don't bother to fix your hair, because once you step outside, it won't matter anyhow

And I didn't. The forecast called for rain. Looks like we aren't going to get any. Wind, we have in spades.

I went out and ran errands this morning, and stopped off at Mickey D's for a quick bite. After what seemed like the entire population of Tinker Air Force Base came in for lunch, I noticed this girl, maybe 11-12 years old wearing a shirt that said "Carl Albert Titans, Classs of 2013" with some signatures and graphics.

Now if I did my math right, the members of the class of 2013 are currently in the sixth grade! What's the big bleepin' hurry here? Marc is in the class of 2012, but c'mon, he's in seventh grade. It's not like he's going to high school next year...

I still have to contend with the class of 2009 (Scott's class).

There was this demented hornet (not a basketball player. That would be, of course, a Hornet)flying around outisde my apartment window. He's hit the window three times now. Maybe he thinks that my webcam is something to polinate. After all, today IS the first full day of Spring.

Personally, the webcam looks like a big eyeball.

But hell, it was free, so I shouldn't complain.

It's so new, no one knows what to do with it yet

I just set up my high speed internet service thru the local cable company. So far, so good.

However, my laptop has the new (since January 30) Windows Vista OS, and it seems that preparations for this are a bit lacking. No one knows what to do with it yet!

In my self installation kit from Cox, it gives directions on how to set up your Cox email accounts. Those instructions only work with XP and earlier versions, such as Win 95/98/2000,etc. The Vista instructions are on Cox's website. No one told me that.

I haven't been given the opportunity to set up my Cox email addy, but I need it to set up the account in Vista.

Grrrrr!

Maybe I should have stuck with the wireless connection. But it's not mine, so I feel guilty for "borrowing" it.

My tech ignorance is showing. Where's a tech savvy 12 year old when you need one? Huh?

This is frustrating

I'm having this nice conversation with Larry on the web version of Mess-up-enger, and it, well, messed up.

I got this page that said the web Messenger was unavailable.

I just checked again, and it's still unavailable.

Just for the record, I'm at the public library. I can't even get the web Messenger at the Rose State Library.

I need a computer of my own, so I don't have to do my homework and web surfing on someone else's schedule.

Maybe I'll use part of my financial aid for that. After all, it IS for school.

That's not a justification. It's a fact.

I think I'll go home and go back to bed. Grrrrrr!!!

Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzpt!

I really don't like all these automatic machines, like the ones that give you paper towels when you walk by the machine, flush the toilet for you (even if you're not quite finished) and turn on the water for you so you can wash your hands.

Okay, I like that last one. Now if they could just come up with the mechanized thingamabob that makes one stay long enough to wash their hands!

And a little lotion for your hands would be nice. But I guess that is an awful lot to ask of a public entity like the library.

BTW, who used this computer keyboard before I got here?

I need to get my old hunk of junk fixed, or a new computer like yesterday!

My computer at home is toast... for real this time :(

I can turn it on, and that's about it. Sorry for the disappearing act for the last 4 days.

In other news, I signed a lease for an apartment yesterday. Now all I need is a couch and a bed.

Oh, and a real job, of course.
===

I'm at UCO's library trying to catch up on 4 days worth of email, and other stuff that I really need my computer for. This is not a good time NOT to have a working computer at home.

Well, there is Jeff's laptop, but he won't let anyone use it unless they give him something in return.

I take him to work everyday since it's been cold out at 7am, but that isn't good enough. Wonder how he's going to get there after I move into my apartment next week.

Guess I better save my pennies for a new computer.
===

Man, this sucks...

I hate my computer. I hate my computer. I hate my...

I'm ready to tear my hair out over this stupid thing!

I've been trying to post to my blog and send emails for three days, and my computer just wouldn't cooperate.

Grrrr....
===

In the last post, I lamented that I had nothing to write about. Well, be careful what you wish for...

1. On Tuesday-- Jeff and I went to pick up Scott from school, and Jeff decided that he was going to drive to my sister's by some route that I personally wouldn't have taken.

There's a section of one road that winds behind Frontier City, where the speed limit is posted as 55 mph. Jeff's response to this was, "righteous!" However, the road is in terrible disrepair. I called it the road that Oklahoma City forgot. Jeff, of course, is going 55 and both Scott and I asked him to slow down. Jeff did slow down to about 45 mph. That's still too fast for me personally, and I told Jeff that I don't have a will so I can't die today. Scott tried to tell Jeff about a route that was quicker, and Jeff didn't want to hear it from his little (i.e. younger) brother.

We finally get to my sister's in one piece. I told Jeff that I was driving home. He was fine with that. I took the interstate like I usually do.

2. On Wednesday-- it was cold and rainy and windy, so I really didn't feel like running my errands. But I did drive Jeff to work, because it really was too cold for him to ride his bike.

3. Also on Wednesday-- there was a report on the local news about people who are camping out waiting for the Friday release of PS3. And sure enough, there were people camped out in front of the WalMart near Mom's house, waiting for Friday at 12:01 am when the stupid game system goes on sale for something like $600!

I never understood why people would do that, be it a movie premiere, a club opening, or waiting for the "hottest toy" of the year to go on sale. I guess I never needed something bad enough to wait for days in line for it. In a tent. In the wind and rain in November in Oklahoma.

Tomorrow's election day...

Yay. I never thought it'd get here. That means the negative ads will finally end!

It's not the voting that gets me... I'll do that willingly whenever possible. It's the political ads that I hate the most!

Just freakin tell me WHY I should vote for you, instead of bad mouthing the other guy/gal. What's your "plan"? And don't send me to a web site to find out. You know how many people don't have a computer, or don't care to have one (i.e. my mother)? Your "plan" on the web doesn't do those without internet access a whole helluva lot of good, ya know?

A "small" fire requires 5 fire trucks?!

....and other observations.

Jeff and I went to WalMart near Mom's house, just to get milk, and we were there all of 2 minutes when there was this announcement that the store needed to be evacuated.

As we were leaving, the fire fighters were already unrolling the hoses and headed towards where there was smoke.

We stuck around for a bit, and I asked a cop what was going on, and he said it was a small fire inside the store. Well, duh!

People were taking pictures with camera phones, and I was wishing I still had my Motorola phone with Channel 4's news tips line in the address book. I had to give that one up when I went to Wyoming because of the different "technology". Tracfone now offers a camera phone for like $60, and I think I will get one when my financial situation improves.

It seems a lot of stuff goes down in MWC, and maybe a camera phone will come in handy.

But why, pray tell, did it take five Edmond fire trucks for a small fire?
===

Someone got a new work computer (at last!). I'm almost jealous.
===

The days of my sitting around like a lump have to end. Nothing gets accomplished that way.
===

And... those individual packets of Hamburger Helper you can get now-- the ones where all you have to do is add water-- there is hamburger in them, but it's a joke. You almost have to look for them!
===

If you live in Edmond, it's Yes Yes No No. Think of Beethoven's 5th symphony. Works for me!

The wind is going to blow me away... literally!

The wind here in OKC is wicked today! It feels like we're going to get some rain soon.

Is this what is meant by "the wind comes sweeping down the plain"?

Maybe it's a good thing I didn't do anything special to my hair. It would have all been for naught.
===

Some mysteries got solved today. One of them I'm so pissed off about I don't even want to think about it right now. There's so much about it that I just don't know!

I need to send out some emails today.
===

Today would be a good day to stay inside and cuddle with someone on the couch in front of a roaring fire. So where am I today? The UCO library, that's where. Pfffffft!

And no one to cuddle with.

Bummer.

Maybe after I get my own place, there'll be an opportunity for that.

Hmmm... that makes me smile.

Ready to pull my hair out over my old hunk of junk...

I am, of course, talking about my ancient computer. The one that Jeff "fixed".

It's even slower than it was before I went to Wyoming. I can't get Yahoo! Mess-up-enger to work two days in a row. I really need to get a new computer like yesterday.

I'm looking for an apartment, planning to go back to school, and come up with the money to get tags, a title and insurance for my Beretta, which is now operational. The only real thing that was wrong with it after all this time was a bad fuel pump.

And because it sat for so long, it'll need fluids and new tires. It needs a new paint job, too, but that can wait for now.

I'm looking for a job, too. To get unemployment in Oklahoma, I have to have 2 job searches a week. I need one more for this week. I'm going out again tomorrow to get the second one.

Speaking of jobs, Jeff got a job! One was at the grocery store that Daniel works at, and one was at a local fast food joint. Jeff chose the fast food joint.

There are some days I hate my computer... and today I despise it!

That's why I am at UCO's library on the internet.

Went to see some apartments the other day. The one closest to Rose State had this requirement that I had to be working for 6 months and make three times the amount of the rent. WTF?!

I've been here almost a week. How could I have been working for 6 months? Tori pointed out that their policy smacks of discrimination, because a lot of college students don't work, retired people don't work (but have an income), and then there's me, who is just looking for a place to live and I don't have a job... yet. I understand why they have that policy, I think. But c'mon! I've been here 5 days!

I'm going to see if there are any other apartments that close to the campus, otherwise, I better get to know the bus routes very well. The best apartment I've seen so far is about 2-3 miles away. I know I can't walk that far, and still have energy to go to classes and study.

However... it looks like that the Beretta can be fixed, so we'll see how that works out. The garage was able to get it running, but will probably need a lot of work simply because it sat for three years. It's probably cheaper than trying to buy another car. We'll see...

Hi, honey... I'm home!!!

(I don't have a honey... at least I don't think I do. I "borrowed" the title of a Shania Twain song for the title of this post)

Got in about 4pm yesterday.

A "travelogue" of sorts to follow. It'll be weird, because it's all text messages to my email account. Now my cell phone is toast. I somehow screwed up the battery so badly that it won't charge. Maybe all those emails from my phone.
===

I know I've been bragging about how Jeff "upgraded" my computer, but somehow, it's slower than ever! It took two hours to get online last night, then the computer decided to reboot itself.

So I'm at UCO's library typing this.
===

Let's review:

*I'm home!
*Cell phone's fried
*Computers way too slow

Tomorrow, I think Tori and I are going to look at the three apartments in MWC I researched on the internet while I was still in Wyoming. Just as long as I'm close to Rose State, I don't care how small the apartment is. So long as it's not a studio. I need a bedroom.

My household stuff will be here on Tuesday.
===

I've got phone calls I've gotta make tomorrow, too. Fortunately, they're either local or toll free, so Mom won't have this outrageous phone bill.

The Post wherein Stef rants about vacuum cleaners, Space Bags, and being pressed for time

I finally got a hold of the neighbor I wanted to borrow the vacuum cleaner from. Apparently, if they don't see a car they recognise out in the drive, they don't answer their door.

So I get the vacuum and start sucking the air out of the Space Bags I bought to save space in my duffle bags. Guess what, kids, they aren't as great as they are hyped up to be.

The vacuuming went okay, but I had to return the machine when I was done. I was hoping to keep it until this morning so I could finish doing the living room.

Maybe Dale has one I can borrow. God knows he's let me borrow just about everything else!

The apartment is going to be inspected tomorrow afternoon around 2.

Still haven't sold the bed and nightstands. Had someone call this morning, but only to ask questions. When I asked if she wanted to buy it, she said she'd get back to me.

I'll take that as a "no".

I still have some stuff to take over to the thrift store, and I think I'll do that when I get out of the library.

It'll be nice to be on my own computer again. Can't wait to see all Jeff has done with it. I mentioned to him the other night that maybe he should go to school and learn more about computers, all I got was mumbling. Yes, the kid can fix just about every damn thing, but he's not making any money doing it!

Leave a comment for me if you want if something strikes your fancy. Maybe cowboy hats and not much else?

Now if I can just sell the damn bed and nightstands...

I might get out of here on Thursday like I've planned.

Not looking forward to the bus ride, though. The one coming up here was an unqualified disaster.

I AM looking forward to seeing people I haven't seen in a while. Get back on familiar ground and get my bearings, and move forward.
===

I'm pretty much packed and the apartment just needs to be vacuumed. Then Wednesday, the property manager comes in and takes a look and tells me if I get my deposit back. I think I will. The damn place is cleaner than I found it.

Then all I'll have to do before I leave is send the boxes to Mom's house, return the car to Dale and get my ass out of here.

Don't know if I can swing by Enid first, though, Vincent. I don't think the bus even goes that way before hitting OKC. I have a better chance of hitting Shawnee first. My second layover is in Amarillo for cryin' out loud. This time, it better be the hour that's posted on the schedule and not the 12 hours I spent there in June.
===

I might not get another opportunity to post anything until I get back to Oklahoma. Jeff has upgraded my old hunk of junk so that I at least have a USB port and a few other goodies. More space on my hard drive isn't one of them. I'll just have to save for an external hard drive.

But I'd rather have a laptop, and save the ancient desktop for writing. I've got some great ideas swirling around in my head!
===

thanks for peeking. see you soon.
