Waiting for the bug man

When I left for school this morning, there was a note hanging in the clip outside my door saying that my apartment was scheduled for pest control today.

So after I got home, it didn't appear that anyone had been here. Not yet, anyway.

I don't have any creepy crawlies, so there's not really anything here to control. I like the fact that this is a regularly scheduled event. This ensures that there aren't any bugs here.

I think this is the first apartment complex that I've lived in where there was regular pest control services.

How reassuring...

You graduated from high school when?

(blush) twenty five years ago this June.

I hope that there isn't a reunion planned. I think that someone from my class who contacted me via myspace.com is looking to see if there's an interest in one.

Count me out. One, I can't afford to fly out to California and stay in an overpriced hotel in my hometown for a week(end); and two, high school just wasn't memorable enough for me to celebrate a quarter century since I graduated. If the truth be told, I couldn't wait to get out of there.

My sister went to her 20th a few years back, and she had a good time. She enjoyed high school. I didn't.

High school for me was a colossal bore. You were either popular or a troublemaker, and I wasn't either. I tried to be a troublemaker, but it just wasn't in me.

So here I am, 25 years later, going back to college. It seems I did everything in my life backwards. Too late to change the past, so I'm going to change the future instead.

Better late than never.

Had a nice visit with a friend who came to see my apartment... all 600 square feet of it. I hope said friend won't be a stranger. They have an open invitation to visit whenever the mood strikes them. I don't hand those invitations out to just anyone... (family doesn't count).

Dude, are you going to ride that thing, or just push it all the way to Downtown OKC?

I've met some interesting characters in the month I've been in my new apartment, and have seen some interesting things... such as:

A woman in the back of a police car who appeared to be handcuffed. A wrecker had just arrived to tow her car and an attached trailer to wherever they tow those things to here.

A mentally challenged man who was pushing a three wheeled bike down SE 15th Street behind me. He told me that he was going to Downtown Oklahoma City. I said that's a long way to ride a bike.

And a number of people who have honked at me and waved from their cars as I walked to places like Wal Mart and the library. I don't recognise any of them in the quick glance I get as they motor on by.

Maybe they realize that I'm new in the neighborhood, I don't know.
===

When I came home from Mom's house the other night, Daniel (who thinks this part of the OKC Metro is akin to "da hood") barely gave me time to get out of his car and get into my apartment before he went roaring off into the night, radio on full blast, bass thumping away.

That boy's gonna be deaf before he's 35 if he keeps that up!

Live from the library...

I hope everyone had a great holiday. Sorry for the lack of posts, but my home computer is, for all intents and purposes, toast. It could possibly be fixed to the point of retrieving the stuff I have on it that I want to keep. Maybe I need Computer Nerdz!
===

I have gotten mostly moved into my apartment. I have a lovely view of I-40 from my front door. The traffic noise doesn't bother me though. Actually, at times it lulls me to sleep. And I'm amazed about how much is close by... like the library for example. Takes me 15 minutes to get here on foot. Couldn't do that in Edmond (believe me, I tried it!).
===

I've had an epiphany of sorts since I've been back in Oklahoma... I've decided that I'm no longer going to color my hair. My hair was the one thing I was vain about. So if I go completely grey by 45, then so be it. I can't really afford to be vain about anything. Take life as it comes, warts and all.
===

Now that I have access to the internet again, maybe other things will improve. Who knows?

Take life as it comes, warts and all.

Yep, my computer is still toast...

in other news...

I'm getting moved into my apartment this week. Hopefully, since Daniel has Wednesday off, I can enlist his help in getting my stuff from Mom's house to my apartment.

It means not having access to a car for a while :( until I can get the Beretta tagged and titled, but if the weather holds up, I can walk to where I need to be. It's amazing that so much is close by... including Rose State.
===

I "met" this huge Saint Bernard named Dante this afternoon. He and his Doberman buddies made a break for it from their yard. Dante was limping and couldn't keep up with the faster dogs, so I was able to get him to come to me. He was all paws and was as friendly as could be. Fortunately, he was wearing a collar with a tag with his contact info on it, so I called his owner and she came and got him.
===

I think I am going to get used to having I-40 practically at my front door. The traffic actually lulled me to sleep while I was at the apartment this afternoon.
===

Thanks for peeking... talk soon?

My computer at home is toast... for real this time :(

I can turn it on, and that's about it. Sorry for the disappearing act for the last 4 days.

In other news, I signed a lease for an apartment yesterday. Now all I need is a couch and a bed.

Oh, and a real job, of course.
===

I'm at UCO's library trying to catch up on 4 days worth of email, and other stuff that I really need my computer for. This is not a good time NOT to have a working computer at home.

Well, there is Jeff's laptop, but he won't let anyone use it unless they give him something in return.

I take him to work everyday since it's been cold out at 7am, but that isn't good enough. Wonder how he's going to get there after I move into my apartment next week.

Guess I better save my pennies for a new computer.
===

Man, this sucks...
