Ick, look at all the crud on the floor!

Time to drag the vacuum cleaner out of the closet and give the rug a once over.

My apartment is so small, I could probably get away with one of those electric sweepers and no one would be the wiser (except those of you who read this blog). Better yet, I wish I had a Roomba to vacuum up all the stuff accumulated on the floor. Push a button and go. How easy is that?

That reminds me of this:

When I was living in Massachusetts with my three cats, I didn't have a vacuum cleaner. When I did have to vacuum, I borrowed one from one of my neighbors. Columbus, my big male Maine Coon, was scared witless of the vacuum cleaner. I didn't even have to turn it on and Columbus would hiss at it. The girl cats, Flurry and Sadie, could've cared less.

I mentioned to someone (probably Paul, who was then my landlord and not the Master of the One Line Email) that I wanted to get a Roomba, which had just come out the year before, because all I'd have to do is push a button and it would vacuum the rug itself. But, this being 2000 at the time, Roombas were prohibitly expensive, so it was out of the question to get one. But I could just see Columbus chasing this stupid little thing around my apartment and hissing at it.

Poor Columbus... he's been gone almost a year and a half now. I miss him.

But, I digress...

I probably should get up off my fat Italian ass and vacuum the rug. Who knows when a certain someone will surprise me by showing up at my door again? (soon, I hope).

Trying to relax... and not succeeding

I can feel the tension in my shoulders, but for the life of me I can't think of a reason why I could be so tense.

Maybe it's the colder than normal spring weather... where's our 80 degree temps? Where's the sunshine?

Lord, I'd hate to be the weatherperson around here. I wonder how much abuse they get from their viewers when they go out in public and the forecast is wrong (or not to someone's liking)?

Hmmm, one of the profs at school does weather on one of the local TV stations, maybe I should screw up the courage and ask him.

Larry just asked me how school was going... so I told him. It's going quite well. There's about a month more of the spring semester, then three weeks off before the summer one begins. I've already got student aid lined up for that. Still waiting to hear on the aid for the fall. Soon, I hope.

It's the books that kill me, though. The prices, that is. Even used ones aren't cheap (but cheaper than the new ones are). The sooner I get the student aid, the better choice of books I get. I got stuck with new books this semester because I got my aid late. Ouch!

I don't know what's going on in the apartment upstairs, but they sound like they're going to fall through their floor into my living room!

Well, I'm awake now... may as well stay up

The surest way to tick me off is the knock on my front door, waking me from a dead sleep at 6:15am, then when I answer the door (after having decided against calling 911 because I'm certainly not expecting anyone), say something like, oh sorry, wrong apartment.

I keep a crowbar next to my door, so I was opening the door with one hand, and had the crowbar behind my back with the other, and there was no one there. Then I hear a woman call out a half hearted apology from a car parked right at my door practically and their headlights beaming down on my still half asleep and scared witless personage.

And well, forget going back to bed. It's almost time for my alarm to go off. Oh, there it goes now.

The lovely view outside my window at 1:25am

Light traffic on I-40
The neighbors playing music just loud enough for me to still hear
My car is still in the parking lot (I didn't go anywhere yesterday)
Someone's out walking their dog

Things I have to do today--
Take the movies back to Blockbuster
Laundry
Vacuuming
and fun stuff like that.

Today is my ex landlord Paul's 60th birthday. I think I sent him an e-card.

I need to go to bed and dream about Hurricane Katrina again. I watched the rest of When the Levees Broke. Now I have to finish the paper I'm doing for extra credit. It's due Monday.
