Stephen King: be prepared to be scared...

Tonight is the debut of the master of horror's primetime series Kingdom Hospital. I've never been a big King fan, but this show sounds interesting and I'll be tuning in tonight at 9pm ET/8pm CT.

I was watching something over the weekend about the actual Kingdom Hospital in Maine, and how it was the site about one hundred or so years ago of a uniform maker during the Civil War. The family who ran the company employed young children to crank out uniforms, and had them work in the basement in sweatshop-like conditions. The building burned to the ground, and the bodies of dozens of children were found in the rubble crowded around the one exit out of the building, which had been locked. Their spirits supposedly haunt the current day hospital. Of course, Kingdom Hospital of Maine denies this.

Stephen King based his series on the work of Eleanor "Sally" Druse, a paranormal expert who has documented the hospital's history and the strange goings-on there. Ironically, according to ABC.com, there is a character in Kingdom Hospital named "Mrs. Druse". Hmmmm...

Review tomorrow...
